Welcome New Members!
Chad Cole

- Joined for the wood shop
- Helping renovate an old Victorian in South Side
Jason Wable

Announcements
Trash sign-ups
- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jlnb70sxQ-lTafuWRjsEnG-GBnINoVmGTaTQZj7FTJo/
- Weekly sign-up sheet has been made for taking out the trash
- Monday nights, with holiday exceptions in red
- Blue highlighted weeks are recycling
- Link is pinned on #general on Slack, along with list of cans to take out and a map of where to put it
- Taking out trash counts towards service hours
Warm clothing drive
- Still going, and will continue through March
- Especially children’s sizes
- We’ve already gotten one load of donations out to Smithfield Shelter
- Bin is on top of or under the rolling table by the clean side couches
Floor in kitchen
- The floor underneath the soda machine, fridge, and leftmost edge of the laser cutter is sagging
- Dale has been informed and will be here in the next week to check on this
- Possibility of putting in floor jacks
- There’s nothing we need to do now, but we may in the near future need to quickly move stuff around so Dale can get in there
Treasurer’s Report
- Bank: $4497.43
- PayPal: $942.56
- Already paid rent
- Some of what’s in there now will be going to pay teachers of classes
- We’re still really not doing well
- Grant season is coming up
Old Business
Section Leads
- Have a point person for each section who knows what’s going on
- Doesn’t need to be an expert on every aspect of that section
- Just needs to be able to coordinate with others within the section to make everything run smoothly
- Will be helpful for organizing trainings as well
- Board will discuss further how we want to frame this
New Business
Selling [vacuum] tube tester to Alex Reasinger for $50
- Was found during a shop clean years ago and has been sitting gathering dust since then
- Vote: Two abstentions in memory of Bob Berger, no nays, all others voted in favor
Slack
- Jeremy has written up a document regarding Slack usage
- Key points:
- Too many channels?
- Some people only log in when they get pinged
- Too many pings?
- Need to make it so Slack is accessible and user-friendly to all
- Ideas on how to help:
- Responding to posts in threads instead of as new posts
- Consolidating channels
- What are people’s opinions?
- Some think we have too many
- Some think compartmentalizing things is best
- Make sure that people who are interested in doing trainings check the #training channel regularly
- Will reduce the need to tag people so often
- Will decrease burnout in people who get tagged the most
- Key points:
- If people have comments/suggestions that they want to give anonymously, they are welcome to write it down and put it through the Dues Drop in the safe
Training Groups
- Alisa created groups on the Slack for all of the tool areas that require training so that people who want to be trained on said tools can tag all of the trainers at once
- @woodshop_trainers, @cnc_trainers, @metal_trainers, @welding_trainers, @resin_trainers, @fdm_trainers, and @laser_trainers
- Opt-in vs opt-out
- We decided on opt-out because Slack doesn’t easily allow people to add themselves to groups, but it’s straightforward to remove themselves from groups
- Overall this will be moot if we get section leads going
Member Questions
- Chris N wants people to record any trainings they give so that they can write up checklists for training on each tool
