Announcements
Moved the fire extinguisher
- Fire extinguisher on center column on the clean side got moved to the opposite side of the column so it isn’t being blocked by the table
Shop clean
- January 29 from noon until we’re done
- Pizza will be provided
- Given that December’s was early and we only had 4 people here, we really need all hands on deck
February trash night sign-ups
- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jlnb70sxQ-lTafuWRjsEnG-GBnINoVmGTaTQZj7FTJo/
- Trying to get the next month’s sign-ups done at the end of the second meeting of each month so we don’t have to keep bringing it up over and over
Warm Clothing Drive
- Brought our second load of donations (children’s coats, hats, and gloves) over to Womanspace East tonight
- Going to actively continue the drive through the end of March
Treasurer’s Report
- Bank: $5862.78
- PayPal: $475.87
- Still not doing great, and we’ve still got a bunch of expenses coming up
Old Business
Classes
- As always, we’re looking for more people to teach more classes
- Doesn’t have to be “big things” – can be small classes doing origami, printmaking, language lessons, etc
- Holiday themes
- There are a number of upcoming holidays where classes can be scheduled to go with them
- Alisa proposed scheduling a Valentines-themed laser cutter class ASAP
- Karan’s soil moisture sensor would be great for Mothers Day
- Ideas from tonight
- Lu can teach Fusion 360
- Rob’s keyboard class will probably be ready to be scheduled in March
Clubs
- Also looking to get more clubs up and running
- Current clubs continue to just be the game night and the “Yarn and Darn”
- In the past Hack had many clubs, including lockpicking, hot wheels, ham radio, foam and fiber, etc
- Great way to get the public involved, bring in new members, and get people talking about the space
New Business
Small projects
- A few of us have made a Google Doc to keep track of smaller-scale projects we need to work on around the shop
- The people behind the doc are also the people who are responsible for the major high priority projects going on in the shop
- As such, the “small stuff” keeps getting pushed further back on the priority list
- We need people who are willing to help with the smaller things
- Contact Alisa for access to the Google Doc
- Examples
- Steve Owens and Geno working on making it so people can pay for vending machine items with fobs
- Tool organization, updating website, creating panic button to call 911 for dirty side, etc
Member Questions
- Andrew is leaving us to finish his PhD. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
- Rob is going to be getting us new computers this month to replace Alpha and Beta
- Donated by Ansys
- Data on Alpha and Beta
- Hack does not keep backups of member data on either computer
- Always save your files on a thumb drive
- Beta’s files have hopefully all been ported over onto Alpha, but no guarantees
