I'm Forest. I'm a Freelance Web Developer. I was once a Chemical Engineer doing process control work. While that profession wasn't for me, I still have "engineering tendencies". I actually enjoy assembling IKEA furniture. I like taking things apart. I love TED.com.

My most recently completed real-world project was a sisal-covered scratching post for my girlfriend's cats. Yes, it was a simple project - no arduinos involved. But it looks nice, and the cats actually use it.

In the past I've dabbled with speaker building. I've built several MDF speaker enclosures and still have a few unfinished (and unstarted) projects. I also have some testing equipment that I could lend or donate to the group including a speaker parameter tester, SPL meter, multimeter, and a small, variable-voltage DC power supply. I also have a bunch of raw speaker drivers, including about 30 mylar tweeters. They might make part of a nice alarm system - I'm thinking Rickroll at 110 dB.

SKILLS

Web stuff. Anything HTML/CSS/Flash/Photoshop-related. Joomla, WordPress. Some 3-D modeling/rendering. Less PHP/MySQL.

Very basic electrical and electronics skills. I can replace a wired light fixture without electrocuting myself. I can use a soldering iron if I have to.

Basic construction skills. I've done some carpentry, masonry, and tile work. I have a healthy respect for power tools.

That's all for me. I hope to learn from this group and will contribute what I can.
