Group Projects I'm working on
( updated April 2nd, 2011 )
- PowPowPowerWheels
- many; see page
- multiple kinects
- Jeff, Me
- I'm mainly working on the shutter problem, and as such this is getting close to backburner
- Modela Desktop Router
- MattB, Doug, Me, Eli
- Matt is doing the Inkscape and python wizardry - this is largely finished
- Doug is coming up with uses, though I'm looking to mill side lit acrylic signs with it
- Eli made the current awesome collar
- there needs to be a set screw to hold the bits in; right now a normal screw is holding the bit in, and that makes it unbalanced
- I'm currently working on integration and developing documentation
Back Burner Group Projects
( things tend to fall apart after a brief discussion, but I think there's still interest if any of the people involved makes a move, including myself )
- putting sound makers into knitted disposable art pieces
- Val, Jeff, Me
- a highspeed digital radio mode for modern ham radio users
- MattS, Doug, Me
- maybe QAM, maybe duplex
- an internet stream of the local ham radio repeater so non-hams can listen to the repeater
- Jeff, Me
- HackPGH sign for outside the door
- Jeff, Me
- the original design was to do edge lit acrylic
- then we decided that we should cut the letters out with the Modela, so this got totally sidelined by a much larger project :(
Projects I've not found anyone to collaborate with
(constantly in flux)
- radio transceiver
- SDR
- 10m or 6m or HF?
- a 'kit' so that other people in the shop could replicate it
- SSB/CW/digital modes
- MattS has shown interest here
- laser projector
- prototype open loop galvo built
- trying to figure out how to add closed loop control
- there is also $100 pre-built entire systems on Ebay, which has reduced my enthusiasm since its trivially solvable with inexpensive off-the-shelf components
- set up proper electrical outlets in the shop
- camera obscura
- stereo camera obscura, eventually
- laser rangefinder
- cleaning the shop pile of treasure
- make piezo crystals out of rochelle salt
- http://hackaday.com/2011/03/15/cooking-up-piezo-crystals-at-home/#more-37550
- microphones, speakers, frequency references
Completed!
(I actually do eventually finish stuff)
- 70cm Yagi antennas for everyone!
- Third Balloon launch
- I helped track it on recovery and built some of the electronics that went inside
- The HackPittsburgh Hackerphone
- along with Jeff, I got the electronics and mechanics squared away
- I helped some in painting the shop the latest go around
- I helped put in some of the new lights
- shop shelves (near the hackerphone)
- the first section is up, now the second set needs to be assembled
- MattS, Me, Eli
