Laser Cutter Checklist

Other Reminders

  1. Prepare Design File
    1. Open file with Laser Cut Pro
    2. Set powers/speeds/cut-or-engrave in Laser Cut Pro
    3. Test design with "Simulate" button in Laser Cut Pro
  2. Prepare Machine
    1. Reset timer box to zero (press button)
    2. Check bed for obstructions before turning on physical key
    3. Turn on physical key and twist physical E-Stop button
    4. watch laser head home (zero to X & Y)
    5. Z-register the bed
    6. Position material, check for obstruction risks from material
    7. Close lid
  3. Download Design to Laser Cutter
    1. Click "Download" in Laser Cut Pro
    2. Click "Del All" in Laser Cut Pro Download dialog
    3. Click "Download Current" in Laser Cut Pro Download dialog
  4. Test Material and Design
    1. Visual check laser nozzle for obstructions
    2. Test material centered: press physical "Test" button, watch laser path
    3. Turn on Air & Coolant (black and yellow power strip)
    4. Check for nozzle air flow.
    5. Close Lid
  5. Run Job
    1. Pick up fire extinguisher and then put it back down
    2. Press physical "Start" button.
    3. Monitor laser until job is complete, be ready to hit big red E-Stop button
    4. Keep lid closed AT ALL TIMES other than when doing tasks that require opening lid.
  6. Finishing
    1. Remove wood
    2. Clean up scraps
    3. Check timer box, write donw time, pay for laser time
    4. Check & clean laser cutter internal vent
    5. Check & clean blower fan vent

Laser Cutter Safety Checklist

  1. Check bed for any possible obstructions before using
  2. Make sure air & coolant are running
  3. Keep lid closed when running
  4. Locate fire extinguisher, pick it up and put it down
  5. Check the Big Red E-Stop
  6. You MUST monitor laser cutter while it is running.

Warning Signs

  1. excessive smoke in general may indicate
  2. smeared burns or poor cutting performance
  3. visible smoke rising from the cut point rather than being sucked away underneath
  4. brighter light from the cut point
  5. frequent orange sparks

Laser Cleanup Checklist

  1. Check timer, write down time, pay for laser time
  2. Remove all scraps
  3. Check laser cutter internal exhaust vent
  4. check blower fan vent
