This reminder page is NOT a substitute for using your brain and taking appropriate precautions.

ALWAYS wear SAFETY GLASSES when operating the CNC.

ALWAYS wear HEARING PROTECTION when operating the CNC.

ALWAYS follow all other relevant safety rules.

PRINTER SPECIFIC WARNINGs

The printer is equipped with an automatic cutting blade.

When adjusting paper, etc, be careful not to cut yourself on the cutting blade.

At the end of the print job the printer will cut the paper, be VERY CAREFUL not to reach into the printer while it is doing this.

Capabilities, Material Width, Resolution

The 500s is an inkjet that uses aqueous, dye based ink and prints up to 1200 x 600 DPI.

Maximum material width is 42".

The material length is effectively unlimited, i.e. as long as the roll of material.

The current roll of paper in the printer is 36" wide.

Note: if you're planning to laminate the printer, check the laminator page about material width.

Preparation

Note: All directions are as seen from facing the front of the printer.

Clean the dust off the printer.

Make sure the power cable is plugged in.

Make sure the ethernet cable is plugged in.

The power cable and ethernet plug into the back, left end of the printer.

Press the power button on the front, left of the printer to turn it on. A green light should come on near the power button.

The printer takes about 60 seconds to finish booting up. When it's ready to print, the LCd display on the right, front of the printeriwll say "Job Managment".

Adjust the Paper

Open the lid of the printer.

At the front, right end of the printer is a light blue plastic lever.

Lift the lever up to lift up the rollers that hold the paper in place so it doesn't slide left or right.

Note, you may want to hold onto the paper before lifting the lever, to prevent it from slipping backward out of the printer.

Adjust the paper, line up the right edge of the paper so it is parallel with the thin blue line that is slightly to the left of the light blue lever. You don't want any skew between the paper and the light blue line, otherwise the paper will skew sideways as it advances.

Press the light blue lever down to press the rollers down and lock the paper in place.

Close the lid of the printer.

Choose Paper on LCD Menu

Use the LCD menu to select which paper you're using.

Printer will advance and then retract the paper to determine if the paper skews.

If the paper skews, the printer will display a message telling you to correct the skew.
